The Good Samaritan Foundation: Tackling Knife Crime Together
On 19 September, Dr Leroy Logan MBE joined a powerful community-led meeting at Deptford Lounge in Lewisham, bringing residents face to face with police and local leaders to address the growing impact of knife crime. Organised by The Good Samaritan Foundation, the event drew together community members, youth advocates, councillors, and representatives from Lewisham Safer Neighbourhoods Police and the Violence Reduction Team, creating a rare and vital space for open dialogue, accountability, and shared concern.
Speaking from his lived experience as a former police officer and long-standing community advocate, Leroy challenged all sides to move beyond blame and towards trust, courage, and collaboration. He emphasised the importance of listening to young people, addressing root causes, and rebuilding confidence between communities and policing through honesty and sustained action. The evening was marked by frank questions, difficult truths, and a collective determination to work together to protect lives and create safer neighbourhoods.
