Diverse Leaders Network: Celebrating Leadership Diversity
The Diverse Leaders Network Event, hosted by the London South Teaching School Hub, took place on 27 November 2025 at Southwark Cathedral and brought together educators and leaders from across the education sector to reflect on diversity, representation and inclusive leadership. Set within the striking surroundings of the cathedral, the evening created a powerful space for honest conversation about the barriers still facing Global Majority leaders and the collective responsibility required to drive systemic change in education.
Dr Leroy Logan MBE delivered a deeply personal and thought-provoking keynote, reflecting on why representation in leadership truly matters. Drawing on his lived experience, including his daughter’s journey into education leadership and his own decades of work across policing, social justice and education, Leroy explored the long-term impact of visibility, trust and accountability. Speaking on the 25th anniversary of the death of Damilola Taylor, he made a poignant connection between legacy, community responsibility and the enduring relevance of challenging institutional racism, reminding the audience that progress requires both courage and sustained action.
The evening also featured a keynote from Patrick Cozier and a panel discussion with Evelyn Forde MBE, Patrick Cozier and Dr Logan, chaired by Alison Wiggins. Together, the speakers challenged schools and system leaders to move beyond symbolic gestures towards intentional recruitment, inclusive cultures and meaningful leadership pathways. The event closed with networking and reflection, leaving attendees inspired to continue building a more representative, equitable and hopeful future for education leadership
